Learn more about the different types of wood

This notebook is born from a collaboration with Anaïs, a bookbinder near Saint-Émilion. Its creation brings together our two areas of expertise: woodworking for the cover and traditional bookbinding techniques for the interior of the notebook.

The cover is made of wood veneer, glued in my workshop under an old press. Anaïs then hand-stitches the booklet, a traditional bookbinding technique that results in a sewn and sturdy notebook. A true collaborative effort, where each step is crafted by hand.

Once the 80 pages are filled, the wooden cover is not meant to be thrown away. You can contact Anaïs to create a new interior and keep your cover. You can then choose the paper weight and the color of the linen thread for your new notebook.

Traceability

The cover is made from old veneers sourced from the dormant stock of a cabinetmaker in Bordeaux, in the Chartrons district. These unused veneers are thus repurposed for the production of the notebooks.

White 90 gsm paper, high-quality and pH-neutral, suitable for writing and drawing.

The binding is hand-sewn with linen thread made in France. The thread also benefits from the Master of Linen label, which guarantees the cultivation and processing of flax fiber in Europe.

The wooden cover is prepared in my workshop and the binding is handcrafted by Anaïs, an artisan bookbinder near Saint-Émilion. Each notebook thus brings together two artisanal crafts: cabinetmaking and bookbinding.

Maintenance

Wood prefers to stay dry, so avoid getting it wet.
You can oil your wooden object every 2 years to restore its shine and nourish it. Ideally with a "Rubio Monocoat" linseed oil-based product or "Danish Oil".
