Collection: Solid wood objects

For my noble wooden decorative objects, I prioritize French timber from sustainably managed forests. I currently source from sawmills and timber merchants around Bordeaux, who work with French woods from various regions: Dordogne walnut, Burgundy oak, Jura ash, etc.

This approach allows me to best understand the origin of the material and to choose each species based on its qualities, grain, and the object I wish to create.

Ultimately, I want to go even further by returning to a traditional cabinet-making method: working directly with a logger or felling professional, having logs cut into planks by a sawmill, and then letting the wood dry for several years before working with it. The goal is to gradually build up a rotation of wood in the workshop, with planks bought, sawn, and put to dry several years before use. However, this requires sufficient storage space to accommodate and properly dry these volumes of wood, which is not yet possible for me at present.

Because wood is never perfectly uniform. Its color, grain, fiber pattern, and natural peculiarities vary from one piece to another, even within the same species.

Therefore, two objects made from the same walnut or oak may show differences. The photographs accurately represent the model and wood species, but the object you receive will have its own unique grain.

These variations are not defects: they are part of solid wood and make each piece unique.

Yes. The items in this collection are made of solid wood, meaning they are crafted directly from the material itself, not from a panel covered with a wood imitation design.

The grain visible on the surface therefore truly belongs to the piece from which the item was fashioned. This is also what allows the wood to retain its feel, its nuances, and its natural characteristics.

Solid wood objects retain the natural color and grain of the wood species used. An oiled finish is applied to protect the wood while preserving its natural look and feel.

Depending on the creation, I use Danish Oil or Rubio Monocoat, among others. The exact finish used is specified on each product page.

The choice of oil depends on the wood species and the object's use. I also pay close attention to the characteristics of the products I use. For example, Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C is a VOC-free finish and has certifications regarding indoor air emissions, toy safety, and food contact.

Daily care for an oiled solid wood item is minimal. Dust it with a soft, and if necessary, slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh household cleaning products and do not leave the wood in prolonged contact with water.

Over time, the finish may become duller or the wood may appear drier. Depending on its use, you can then re-oil it approximately every two years, or simply when the wood shows a need.

Before applying new oil, consult the product sheet: it indicates the original finish used.

For an item treated with Rubio Monocoat, prioritize maintenance products from the same range (Refresh Eco, Universal Maintenance Oil). Failing that, it is possible to use a general-purpose wood maintenance oil, preferably a natural oil such as linseed oil or parquet oil without film-forming additives, to lightly nourish the surface. These solutions may be suitable for light and occasional maintenance, but to best preserve the performance and aesthetics of Rubio Monocoat, products from the same range remain the benchmark for compatibility, protection, and durability.

For an item treated with Danish Oil, you can use a simple and accessible linseed oil-based maintenance oil, provided it is suitable for already oiled wood. Polymerized linseed oils or those specifically formulated for oiled wood maintenance are generally compatible and can revive protection without altering the appearance of the finish. Ideally, it is still preferable to stick to a Danish Oil similar to the one originally used to ensure a consistent result.

Yes, and it is a natural characteristic of the material. The color of wood can change slightly over the years and with exposure to light: some species warm up, darken or gradually develop a patina.

Wood also reacts to significant variations in humidity and temperature. To preserve your object, avoid placing it permanently in a very humid environment or in the immediate vicinity of a heat source.

These changes are part of the life of solid wood and do not detract from its qualities.

Yes. Some wooden objects can be personalized by laser engraving: first name, date, a few words or other inscription depending on the model.

Engraving is currently carried out with the help of a specialized partner, and then the object is finalized in the workshop. Simply contact me before placing your order so that we can look together at what is feasible.

This solution is available outside the winter period, from early November to the end of February. From 2027, I plan to be able to carry out this step directly in the workshop as well.
